Continuing its partnership with local schools and colleges, members of Xaar visited Alconbury COE Primary School for its recent STEM Day event.
Engaging 27 Year 6 students with hands-on STEM Imagineering activities, the Xaar STEM team assisted students in building a balloon car aka the ‘XaarCar’ to learn about some of the principles of engineering. The day culminated in an exciting race during the school assembly, where the winner received a 3D printed trophy from Xaar.
Hoping to inspire the next generation of engineers, the event gave the schoolchildren an opportunity to see how Xaar, as a global leader in inkjet, is using science and technology to develop the next generation of products and the importance of STEM subjects to its business.
It was the STEM team’s second year running visiting the school, emphasising the importance of career opportunities through STEM education. Xaar is dedicated to enhancing awareness of potential careers within the company by actively engaging with local schools and this initiative is a vital component of Xaar’s Sustainability Roadmap and its commitment to community involvement.
Xaar’s dedication to its local community has led to the organisation of numerous STEM events, fostering lasting relationships with a number of local schools, colleges, and educational charities.
Helen Clifton, Learning & Development Manager at Xaar said; “It was amazing to go back to Alconbury COE Primary School and to be part of such a fun and insightful day for the students. We try to do as much as possible in the local area to find the engineers of the future.
“STEM related careers are key to our industry’s future. We hope that the event has inspired some of the young people by highlighting the many exciting opportunities.”
