Market Harborough-based VMGS Installations has recently upgraded its capabilities with the acquisition of a state-of-the-art JWEI JCUT-3230 digital cutting table from CMYUK
This investment reflects the company’s commitment to adapting to its customers’ evolving demands and managing increased workloads efficiently.
“The price-to-performance ratio of the JWEI JCUT-3230 is unmatched. It has all the features and functionality of a high-end cutting table, but at a fraction of the price. With our existing Kongsberg table, adding new tools like a Creasing Wheel means extra costs. With the JWEI, everything is included, providing outstanding value for money,” says Ken Mardon, co-founder, VMGS.
The new JWEI JCUT-3230 has been seamlessly integrated into VMGS’ daily operations alongside its existing smaller Kongsberg cutting table. This combination ensures increased throughput without bottlenecks or delays, making it an ideal solution for the company’s growing production demands.
CMYUK partnership
Founded in 2019 by industry veterans, Ken Mardon and Mark McIntyre, VMGS has rapidly grown into a thriving full-service provider with 16 staff. The company offers POS, signage, shop fitting, merchandising, vehicle, and race graphics, among other services. It is also a proud supporter of the McAMS Yamaha Racing British Superbike Team, designing and producing a range of custom signage, graphics, promotional materials plus garage boarding and hospitality branding.
Ken and Mark credit a large portion of their success to their long-standing partnership with CMYUK and its commercial director, Sue Hayward.
“Sue has been instrumental in helping us navigate challenges and capitalise on new growth opportunities. She has encouraged us every step of the way. Her guidance has shown us how the right investments can transform our business,” Ken explains.
VMGS’ production equipment portfolio (built with support from CMYUK) includes the following: Mimaki UJV55-320 UV LED roll fed printer, Mimaki UCJV300-160 UV LED roll- to-roll print and cut, JFX200-2513 EX flatbed, Mimaki JV100-160 solvent printer, plus an Easymount laminator, Graphtec plotter, Kongsberg X24 Edge, and now the JWEI JCUT-3230.
“The JWEI is amazing, you just look at it and think, wow, that’s huge! It sits next to our Kongsberg, and it looks and performs like a premium brand,” says Mark.
JWEI JCUT-3230 versatility
CMYUK, the exclusive distributor of the JWEI JCUT digital cutting tables in the UK and Ireland, considers this innovative technology as a game-changer. The JCUT-3230 delivers exceptional quality, reliability, and features at an investment level never previously attainable.
Designed for premium, high end industrial printing environments, the JCUT-3230 includes advanced features such as an automatic feeding conveyor, 1800kW liquid cooled router for powerful milling, Auto Tool Changer (ATC), Universal Cutting Tool (UCT), Kiss Cut Tool (KCT), Electric Oscillating Tool (EOT), Crease Wheel Tool (CWT) and V-Cut Tool (VCT). Its modular cutting head accommodates up to 3 sets of tool combinations simultaneously, while its carbon fibre reinforced gantry ensures stable precision during intense production cycles. With speeds of up to 75 metres per minute and maximum acceleration of 1G, it’s built for efficiency and performance.
The JWEI’s capabilities have enabled VMGS to broaden its service offerings and explore new markets. “With the JWEI, we can crease, perforate, as well as all sorts of other finishing tasks in-house. It’s a true one-stop-shop for our customers,” notes Ken.
As with all JWEI installations, training on the new digital cutter was carried out by CMYUK, with VMGS’ highly experienced operator, Tim Reeves, and recent team member, Maria Bland, undergoing a three-day training session.
“Obviously, Tim breezed it, and Maria, who’s been with us for less than a year and new to the industry, is already using it daily. It’s that easy to use,” says Ken.
Future focus
With this new investment from CMYUK, VMGS‘s future strategy is clear: to position itself as a trusted, premium partner rather than just another supplier.
“Our goal is to handle 75% of all our top customers’ work, providing exceptional value and meeting the most complex demands,” says Ken. “With us, it’s simple, tell us what you want, and we’ll make it happen. The answer is always yes, no matter the question.”
