Featuring high-speed data control technology and newly designed dual staggered print heads, the XP-640 ejects finer ink droplets at higher density and speed
Roland DG announces launch of the TrueVIS XP-640, the newest addition to its flagship large-format printer series. Available in 8-colour (CMYKLkOrGrRe) and dual CMYK configurations, the TrueVIS XP-640 offers increased production speeds with high-definition image quality. In standard mode, the 8-colour configuration allows for the widest colour gamut at speeds of up to 15.2 m2/h on vinyl, while the 4-colour setup produces prints at 22.5 m2/h.
“TrueVIS is our flagship brand for large-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters, which have won worldwide acclaim from sign and graphics professionals for their ability to produce outstanding graphics with the extraordinary power to excite hearts and minds.” said Ryugo Nimura, President, Global Sales and Marketing Division. “The XP-640 is the latest model in this series, and we have further refined its print quality and achieved top-class productivity through the addition of several innovations, including a new print head, upgraded control technology, and improved ink.”
The new eco-solvent TH ink, featuring vibrant red alongside CMYK, orange, and green, offers greater accuracy in red and orange hues and reduces ink usage through improved profiling. The expanded colour gamut assists with precise reproduction of corporate colours. The upgraded True Rich Color allows users to select from more vivid, deeper, or softer colour variations to meet specific client needs.
The XP-640 features a 7-inch colour LCD touch panel, an automated media setup function for precise gap and compensation adjustments, a media take-up system to reduce skewing, and a perforated sheet cutter for quick post-processing.
To minimise downtime, users can now easily replace components, such as caps and wipers, without the need for a service engineer. Plus, the printer is compatible with Roland DG Connect, a cloud-based service.
“In recent years, sign and graphic production has been diversifying expression through UV and resin inks. However, customer expectations and demand for eco-solvent ink, with its eye-catching vividness and superior weather resistance, remain strong, and it is still the mainstay today,” Nimura said. “The TrueVIS XP-640, based on the technology and know-how we have cultivated over many years, is a product that has further evolved in all aspects, including image quality, productivity, operation efficiency, and lower price. It is a robust product that will empower professionals in sign and graphic production, especially those who have clients with large output volumes and demanding deadlines.”
