We talk to Kohei Kobayashi, Managing Director of Mimaki Australia and New Zealand, on the launch of its latest printer
Mimaki has officially launched its CJV200 integrated printer and cutter in Australia and New Zealand. They describe it as a versatile solution tailored to signage, vehicle wrapping, labels, and wallpaper printing.
“We designed the CJV200 with the operator in mind, whether they’re experienced or entirely new to digital printing,” says Kohei Kobayashi. For him, this release is more than just a product launch—it’s a chance to give businesses tools that work, day in and day out, without the usual fuss. “Our ‘330 Engine’ print technology is at the heart of it. It allows a tiny ink drop, just three picoliters, to hit the page. This means high-density prints at high speeds that come out sharp and bright.”
With environmental concerns ever-present, Mimaki wanted to ensure that the CJV200 didn’t add to the problem. Kohei speaks passionately about their eco-friendly approach. The printer uses Mimaki’s SS-22 inks, which have earned international certification for low chemical emissions. “That’s important to us. Our customers should be able to trust that they’re working with materials that won’t harm their health or the environment. This aligns with our commitment to sustainability and providing options that meet stricter regulations here in ANZ.”
A key feature of the Mimaki CJV200 is the Dot Adjustment System (DAS), which automatically makes critical setup adjustments for users, removing the need for constant manual tweaks. Kohei explains, “With DAS, you can automatically adjust media feed and bi-directional printing. And it’s even more valuable in ANZ, where there’s a shortage of experienced operators. You can get great results without needing extensive technical training.”
For Kohei, it’s all about removing barriers. The printer’s ink-saving function, for instance, lets operators reduce ink use with minimal effort—ideal for small businesses conscious of costs. “We know these things matter. For many of our clients, every dollar saved counts, and we wanted to make that as easy as possible,” he says.
The CJV200 is also built to handle busy periods. Kohei knows the industry’s rhythm—there are quieter months and periods when demand shoots up. Mimaki designed the printer to keep up with these cycles, offering remote monitoring so operators can check ink levels, schedule maintenance, and avoid unexpected downtime.
“When peak season hits, our customers need to know they can rely on their equipment,” Kohei says. “We’ve equipped the CJV200 with Mimaki’s Core Technologies to ensure smooth performance even under heavy workloads.” These include features like the Advanced Pass System (MAPS4) to reduce banding and the Nozzle Recovery System (NRS), which keeps things running smoothly, even if a nozzle is temporarily down.
Kohei points out that the ANZ market has seen a growing demand for integrated print and cut solutions, adding that the CJV200 is primed to meet this trend head-on. “We’re seeing businesses want devices that can handle various tasks all in one,” he explains. “For us, the CJV200 is an answer to that demand. And we’re already thinking about the next steps—what’s possible in terms of technology and how we can continue to evolve.”
In Australia and New Zealand, Kohei believes the CJV200 is more than ready to meet market needs—and perhaps even surprise a few people along the way. For Kohei and Mimaki, it’s about empowering businesses to do more with less hassle and with every print looking just as vibrant as the last.
For inquiries, Kohei Kobayashi and the team at Mimaki ANZ are available to discuss how the CJV200 can help local businesses reach their goals.
