The company launched in Europe, here in Amsterdam in 2004, with a first European show being FESPA in Amsterdam in 2006.

Mimaki’s Arjen Evertse talked about the development of UV roll-to-roll printing over the years, which began with a machine in 2004. “We have delivered clear innovation over the years, which soon culminated in significant sales. Our latest UJV and UJCV (print and cut) roll-to-roll UV printers are fantastic machines and actually have the lowest energy consumption in the market.”

“We believe UV is the most sustainable technology for the large format market,” he says.

Mimaki’s flatbed UV history is similarly impressive, with market-leading products incorporating advanced technology. “By 2016, we achieved number one market share in the EMEA market and we are still in this position,” says Arjen, adding, “The JFX600-2513 high performance launched in 2021 has led to the product we are launching at the show this year.” See the story here.

Arjen also explained the history of small format UV, where Mimaki were again pioneers. “We launch products that change markets. Our UV desktop helped to create the personalisation market. We have done much the same with the Kebab option – it’s technology that changes markets,” says Arjen.

The latest Mimaki Kebab option launched at FESPA is here.

Textile

Mimaki’s legacy in textile printing has also spanned Mimaki Europe’s 20 years. By 2022, the yearly output for Mimaki textile printers was 300 million sqm. The latest product from Mimaki launched at FESPA is Trapis. Dye sublimation for non-polyester materials. See more here.

What’s next

Danna Drion, Marketing General Manager, took over to discuss Mimaki Europe’s future. “We will be showing our innovation at DRUPA this year, including our sustainability goals. We will also be showing our sustainability through actions, not just words,” she says.

“We have a global responsibility and want to show this in real actions. We will be working with Tiny Miracles to produce a sustainable bag that will provide women in India with jobs. Another group we will work with is Girls in Print to encourage young talent in our industry. Social responsibility and a commitment to diversity is very important and something we are working hard to achieve,” she adds.

We have been invited to Mimaki Europe’s showroom in Amsterdam and we will publish our report on this once we have been.
