Cambridge Sign Company installs a range of wayfinding signs using the KOPA System from Sign Trade Supplies
Since 2014, Cambridge Sign Company has been crafting signage across East Anglia and London.
Their nine-person team has seen everything from vehicle wraps to full-on office and retail fit-outs. Their recent work with Girton Golf Club is an excellent example of how smart signage can really make a difference.
Nick Dowell, Managing Director at Cambridge Sign Company, says, “We’ve worked with Girton Golf Club on and off since 2017. When they got in touch about updating their signage, we were more than happy to help.”
The requirement was straightforward: give the club’s signs a fresh, clean look that would last while staying within a reasonable budget. “They wanted something durable that also fit with the classic traditional vibe of the club,” Nick adds. “The old signs had seen better days and weren’t really doing them justice.”
Discovering the KOPA sign system

For Girton Golf Club, the oak-finish posts made all the difference. “The club loved the traditional timber look but were understandably worried about durability. The KOPA system gave them the best of both worlds, classic aesthetics with modern longevity,” Nick explains.
The installation was a hit. “The feedback’s been brilliant,” Nick shares. “Staff and members alike have commented on how professional the new signage looks. It’s transformed how people navigate the course and interact with the space.”
The project’s success has even had a knock-on effect. “Since completing the Girton job, we’ve recommended the KOPA system to other clients and have several new projects lined up,” Nick adds.

The role of STS support
Nick is full of praise for Sign Trade Supplies and how they helped keep the project on track. “STS were great,” he says. “They walked us through a demo, sorted us out with samples, and were always on hand to support us. They really made the whole process simple.”
The KOPA system is supplied in easy-to-install kit form, making the ordering and fulfilment process faster and more reliable. It accepts flat 3mm panels, such as aluminium composite, enabling simpler, cost-effective graphic applications via direct print or vinyl overlay. It also allows for simple double-sided graphics, removing the need for a costly second tray.
Reflecting on the project, Nick says the KOPA system hit the mark. “It’s easy to install, looks great, and it lasts,” he says. “You don’t often find something that works so well across the board. We’ll definitely be using it again.”
