Kavalan partner with Matic for PVC-free textile finishing

Kavalan approached Matic to suggest they trial and evaluate Kavalan’s new industrial textiles, as well as some of the wide-format digital printing materials

Kavalan, manufacturer of wide format materials, has announced its strategic partnership with Matic, a manufacturer of cutting, welding, and sewing equipment solutions for the textile manufacturing sector. Kavalan and Matic are highlighting the complementary nature of their offerings in a new video shot at Matic’s Barcelona headquarters, which you can watch in full here.

Matic was founded in 1969 in Barcelona, Spain, initially focusing on machinery for the garment sector before expanding into new markets, including solar protection, roller shades, digital printing, and curtains. Driven by customer needs, Matic began innovating with the latest technology for cutting, welding, sewing, and handling industrial textiles whilst staying true to their initial focus of quality finish and ease of use.

In exploring new partnerships, Matic was looking to uphold not only their economic goals but also their social and environmental goals as well. When the team discovered Kavalan’s PVC-free materials, it seemed like a perfect match.

“We were immediately impressed by their commitment to creating high-quality sustainable products and promoting the reduction of resource consumption and environmental impact,” says Pascal Goiran, Area Manager, Matic.

Kavalan approached Matic to suggest they trial and evaluate Kavalan’s new industrial textiles, as well as some of the wide-format digital printing materials, a challenge that Matic gladly accepted.

“The three textiles worked very well with Matic machines during our tests,” continues Pascal. “We used the Matic Perseo 4000 Impulse welding machine to weld Kavalan’s Sunlight Weldable and industrial fabric. Additionally, we used the Cronos 4.0 sewing machine to sew Kavalan’s SEG material, Moonlight River.”

“I am delighted to say the results were flawless,” said Pascal. “What impressed me the most was that Kavalan’s innovative textiles welded perfectly with our Perseo 4000 Impulse welding machine in just three seconds, compared to the seven seconds typically required for traditional PVC materials. This is truly remarkable.”

Pascal concludes, “We are proud to partner with Kavalan. I believe their innovative approach aligns closely with Matic’s vision. Their commitment to developing eco-friendly materials sets new industry standards, inspires manufacturers to rethink what is possible, and drives the industry toward better and more sustainable solutions.”

Nova Abbott, Head of Marketing, Kavalan, comments, “Working with Matic has been a fantastic experience, and we at Kavalan are thrilled by the positive outcome and successful trialing of our PVC-free materials on the Matic welding and sewing equipment. Matic’s company principles of symbiosis and shared prosperity are a perfect embodiment of the similar mindset and approach to the market that our businesses have in common, with a strong focus on delivering what our customers need in an innovative and sustainable way.”
