This strategic acquisition marks the company’s entry into the digital wide-format print market, enabling it initially to produce high-impact, short-run customised artisanal food packaging and bespoke marketing materials.
Founded by entrepreneurs Adrian Cojocaru and Ionel Stefan, Infinite Impressions began trading on October 1st this year, and operates with a team of five, including two remote graphic designers based in Romania. The company has quickly secured a multi-national contract with a high-end food supplier also in Romania to provide bespoke, premium packaging solutions, as well as an additional marketing contract within the region.
Research and Collaboration with CMYUK
The decision to invest in the Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX flatbed printer and JWEI JCUT 2131 digital cutting table came after a year-long research process. “We visited numerous equipment manufacturers, attended trade shows, and explored all possible options,” says Adrian Cojocaru. “Eventually, we met Tim Boore [Senior Digital Sales Consultant] from CMYUK, who was incredibly helpful throughout the process. We changed our minds several times, looked at other products, and checked with other suppliers, but Tim remained patient and supportive.”
A visit to the CMYUK showroom in Shrewsbury solidified the decision. “The experience was invaluable. We could test the equipment and see it in action. We were struck by the capabilities of the JWEI JCUT, and I was impressed by how intuitive and easy-to-use the Mimaki printer was. The capabilities and ease of use of the equipment really convinced us,” Adrian adds.
Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX: quality, versatility, and simplicity
Infinite Impressions selected the Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX for its user-friendly design, exceptional print quality, and flexibility. Combining superior quality and high productivity, it prints up to 1200 dpi and features an 8ft x 4ft bed. Features include embossed printing that creates a raised textured surface by laying down multiple layers of ink for value added printing. The NCU (Nozzle Check Unit) and NRS (Nozzle Recovery System) automatically detect and recover missing nozzles, while the Mimaki MAPS (Mimaki Advanced Pass System) technology employs an advanced algorithm to print optimal gradation patterns on each pass, significantly reducing print banding
“The Mimaki is not complicated to use; it’s reliable and versatile,” explains Adrian. “The ability to print up to five layers allows us to explore new product possibilities. In the future, we plan to launch bespoke-designed aluminium panels for bathrooms, which will feature designs that customers can personalise. The printer’s functionality will allow us to offer high-quality, personalisation products.”
Additionally, Infinite Impressions is exploring other niche products like bespoke wall backsplashes for kitchens, combining materials such as glass and Plexi-glass to suit various applications. The company’s focus on smaller market segments aligns perfectly with the versatility of the Mimaki printer, allowing it to efficiently cater to a diverse range of custom printing needs.
The installation process and after-sales support from CMYUK have been seamless. “CMYUK has been very responsive – not that we’ve had any major problems, but any small issues we’ve had were resolved quickly. It’s reassuring to have such a reliable support partner backing us,” Adrian notes.
JWEI JCUT Cutting Table: rich capabilities and cost-effectiveness
Finding the right digital cutting table was equally important. Infinite Impressions requires equipment that can handle a variety of materials while remaining cost-effective. The JWEI JCUT cutting table checked all the boxes. “We needed versatility, the ability to cut as much as possible. “The JWEI JCUT does exactly what we need at a significantly lower price point than other suppliers. We looked at a number of manufacturers including premium brands such as Zund, and found that the JCUT compared favourably, with no advantage in technical performance or specification to justify the higher cost, ” he says.
The JWEI JCUT 2131 has a proposition that has caused disruption within the digital cutting market. Its standardfeature set includes an automatic feeding conveyor, 1800kW liquid cooled router for powerful milling, Auto Tool Changer (ATC), Universal Cutting Tool (UCT), Kiss Cut Tool (KCT), Electric Oscillating Tool (EOT), Crease Wheel Tool (CWT), V-Cut Tool (VCT), and a modularised cutting head that accommodates up to 3 sets of tool combinations simultaneously. The bed is comprised of separate vacuum zones that secure materials and guarantee complete lay flat consistency for all substrates during production.
In terms of speed, this cutter runs up to 1200mm per second, the equivalent of 75m pert minute with a maximum acceleration point of 1G. The JCUT series is also controlled by the powerful, easy to use OptiScout Vision controller software for accurate and fast automated cutting. It comes with compressor, delivery, installation, operator and application training,18-months on-site warranty, all tools, and software.
It kicks above the competition with its powerful routing capabilities and handles materials larger than the table itself. One of its operators at Infinite Impressions has been able to convert large rolls of paper into sheets that will be used for printing through the Mimaki flatbed. “It’s perfect for us. The JCUT does everything we require from converting, to cutting small signs at volume, to handling larger formats seamlessly,” says Adrian.
Future plans and e-commerce expansion
While Infinite Impressions’ immediate focus is on custom packaging and marketing materials, the business is already planning for future expansion. It is developing two websites: one dedicated to B2B customers for packaging and signage, and another focusing on consumer-oriented products such as personalised front door plaques with house names and numbers. This consumer platform will allow users to design and order bespoke products by uploading their photos for on-demand printing.
Adrian, with a background in e-commerce, is overseeing the design of the websites. “All orders will come to our headquarters in Poole, where our head designer will manage the artwork before sending them on to our team in Romania for final checking. After that, we print everything in Poole,” he explains.
Looking ahead, Infinite Impressions plans to grow its workforce and potentially invest in a roll-to-roll printer if the packaging side of the business flourishes. “What characterises the equipment we have purchased is versatility, so if one market area doesn’t take off, we can easily pivot to another,” he says.
With its initial investment in the Mimaki JFX 200-2513 EX flatbed printer and JWEI JCUT 2131 cutting table, the business has the first stage of production technology necessary to fulfil its commercial ambitions: namely to develop niche markets and offer high quality customised products that attract UK, European, and ultimately US interest.
