In today’s print economy, the term ‘web-to-print’ is no longer representative of the evolving requirements of print buyers and brands – it’s now a case of ‘web-to-anything you want to personalise’. As technological advancements within customisation and personalisation continue and as printers move further towards ‘print of one’ models, print service providers are having to keep up with this demand in order to remain competitive and profitable.

An increasing number of printers are implementing web-to-print systems to sell print online, however, print service providers need to ensure they can efficiently handle this increase in production in order to truly maximise the revenue opportunities. 

This means streamlining production processes, removing time-consuming manual touchpoints, efficiently managing artwork processing, and implementing systems that are as accessible and straightforward as possible as new talent enters the industry and skilled workers retire. That’s why we predict a greater adoption of cloud-based technology and a stronger embrace of Connected Automation. 

It’s been a slow burn so far, and while there is no crystal ball here at Four Pees, we do expect interest in cloud-based platforms to trend upwards, particularly with so much innovation and development going on in the space.
