Graphic installation and project management company Applied Graphics & Signs recently used Drytac SpotOn Clear Gloss media, flood coated with white for opacity, to produce an eye-catching set of window graphics to promote the Hollywood blockbuster film ‘Babylon’.

Servicing Southern California and Chicago, Applied Graphics & Signs specialises in architectural resurfacing, wide-format installations, decorative window films and hardware mounted signage, working with partners across the retail and corporate sectors to produce a host of striking graphics.

For its latest project, Applied Graphics & Signs was approached by National Installations, a full-service labour and project management specialist, and Olson Visual, a global provider of visual marketing stunts, to project manage and install a giant set of window graphics at LA-based cinema AMC The Grove to celebrate the launch of ‘Babylon’, a new film starring A-listers Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Tobey Maguire.

The application space measured 559” wide x 220” high and required 54 panels to be trimmed to fit each glass panel of the cinema’s giant windows. With image quality and reliable adhesion both of paramount importance, Olson Visual chose to work with Drytac SpotOn media, which it purchased from Epic Distribution.

“This specific product was chosen for this short-term application as it can be easily repositioned in tight obstructed areas,” Applied Graphics & Signs President Fadi Ballut said. “Using Drytac SpotOn, we saved time on installation with a dry application, rather than traditional routes of a wet applied film for second surface.”

The graphics, which included large-scale images of some of the film’s leading names, were printed onto the media using a Durst Rho 512R 5-metre roll-to-roll UV-Curable machine with Fadi saying the customer was delighted with the final application.

“They were ecstatic with the results of our production partners and installation team,” Fadi concludes.
