Canadian large-format print company Creative Silhouettes recently used Drytac Polar Grip white polymeric self-adhesive vinyl to create an eye-catching set of exterior wall graphics for a local client.

Based in Vaughan, Ontario, Creative Silhouettes specialises in wall decals and graphics, both printing and installing a wide range of attractive applications for clients across a host of markets.

For its latest project, Creative Silhouettes teamed up with an existing client – real estate investment and management company Barney River – to transform the look of the outside wall of its building. As the application would be constantly subject to the elements and extreme cold of Ontario’s harsh winters, Creative Silhouettes required a material that could stand the test of time and retain its original, fresh look.

As a result, the company opted to work with Drytac Polar Grip, a self-adhesive PVC film that offers up to seven-year durability when used with a matching laminate. Featuring a high bond adhesive, the film can be used to permanently apply graphics to any surface such as metal, plastic, wood, glass, and brick.

“We have been working with Drytac’s materials for around six years now, using these products to create all manner of applications for our clients,” Creative Silhouettes’ Chief Executive Officer Giovani Pereira said. “We have previously used Drytac Polar Grip for various other projects that required the installation of graphics onto rough surfaces like the outside wall in this application.”

Creative Silhouettes purchased the Drytac Polar Grip film from ND Graphics, an approved distributor of Drytac products in Canada, and printed all graphics in-house using its HP Latex R1000 printer. In total, the wall mural – which was installed in February 2024 – measured 18ft (approx. 5.5m) high by 45ft (approx. 13.72m) long.

“Our team is used to working with Drytac Polar Grip and our staff are very comfortable using the material for this type of work,” Giovani said. “The installation was painless with three installers completing the job in just one day. Our customer absolutely loved the finished piece.”
