Event production services business, Encore EMEA has purchased a Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX UV LED flatbed printer from CMYUK.
This flatbed printer complements the existing roll-to-roll Mimaki printers and represents the latest investment in the company’s in-house UK digital print department, established six years ago with the goal of producing the majority of its printing internally.
“This is a very reliable printer that offers excellent value. The biggest advantage is that it saves us both time and materials. The events industry is very last-minute, and now we can print directly to board rather than printing vinyl, laminating, and then mounting. We have increased our capacity and sped up the entire production process. If someone needs something urgently, we can accommodate those requests,” says Martin Alfonso, Print Operations Manager.
The flatbed joins existing Mimaki equipment, including the 3.2m wide UJV55-320 UV LED dedicated roll-to-roll printer and the UCJV330-160 UV LED printer/cutter.
Martin has a longstanding relationship with Chris Martin, Sales Manager at CMYUK. “We have considered other options, but Chris has always been very supportive. We are very happy with our existing Mimaki equipment, so it made sense to stay with this manufacturer. We also purchase our consumables and materials from CMYUK. They provide excellent service, and we’re very happy with them,” he says.
Notable features of the Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX include embossed printing that creates a raised textured surface by laying down multiple layers of ink. It ensures consistent quality through its automatic detection and self-recovery of missing print nozzles. Additionally, the Mimaki uses an advanced algorithm to print optimal gradation patterns on each pass, significantly eliminating any banding on the print.
The UK print department services about 50 venues across the UK. If an entire event is being dispatched from the UK, the department produces all the required printed graphics. While corporate events are a core focus, the business also serves a wide variety of other categories, including exhibitions.
Martin adds, “It was always the plan to buy a dedicated flatbed printer. We bought a cutting table last year, and these machines work hand in hand to increase the capacity and capabilities of our print shop.”
