Avery Dennison introduces SP 1504 Easy Apply RS™, a PVC-free digital print film, in Australia and New Zealand for eco-friendly vehicle wrapping
Avery Dennison has announced the SP 1504 Easy Apply RS™, a PVC-free digital print film designed for environmentally conscious vehicle wrapping and corporate branding.
According to Chris Sherry, Senior Strategic Marketing Manager – CX & Sustainability APAC at Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions, who we spoke to at the Visual Impact show, “This new technology is the result of over five years of research and development and has been engineered to mimimise its environmental impact. Our new film is the same price as our premium PVC equivalent. This is designed to make sustainability accessible without compromising on performance or increasing cost.”
This new solution delivers a 53% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as measured in kgCO2e, compared to its PVC-based counterparts. It is also free from chlorine, phthalates, and other halogens, and results in reduced emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
The film features Avery Dennison’s proprietary Easy Apply RS™ adhesive, which utilises Air Egress and Repositionable-Slideable technology for fast, bubble-free and hassle-free installation. SP 1504 Easy Apply RS™ also offers exceptional printability, producing vibrant and exciting images, enabling installers to deliver outstanding results.
Avery Dennison is collaborating with its partners, including distributors, converters, installers and brand owners, to make advancements in sustainability.
The company has partnered with customers such as Dzine Signs in New Zealand and Grafico in Australia to test the new film. Dzine, a leader in high-quality fleet wraps in New Zealand, used SP 1504 Easy Apply RS™ on a fleet of six Park Ranger vehicles for one of New Zealand’s most environmentally conscious councils.
In Australia, Grafico, aims to lead in sustainability and respond to customer demand for non-PVC alternatives, but found that previous options were too expensive or underperformed. After testing Avery Dennison’s new film, Damian Corney, founder and creative director of Grafico, said, “The installation team appreciated it, and customers couldn’t tell the difference. It printed and installed well with minimal price difference. Even those not seeking sustainable options embraced it, making the switch to SP 1504 an easy choice for us.”
As a global leader in materials science and manufacturing, Avery Dennison continually drives sustainability, particularly with its expanding Sustainable Print (SP) portfolio. Chris noted, “The SP 1504 Easy Apply RS™ has resulted from the company’s intense development process for an advanced product engineered to minimise its environmental footprint. It caters to businesses that demand superior performance and are firmly committed to sustainability.”
Avery Dennison believes that sustainability is not just about reducing its carbon footprint, it’s about driving meaningful change across the value chain. Chris said, “Sustainability is a core value that guides the company. The SP 1504 Easy Apply RS™ is a prime example of our commitment to leading the way in the industry by offering innovative and sustainable solutions that cater to our customers’ needs.”
Avery Dennison stands behind the SP 1504 Easy Apply RS™ with the Integrated Components Systems (ICS) Warranty, ensuring it meets the same rigorous standards as incumbent products, reinforcing its commitment to quality and reliability.
